Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
I was driving my Festiva when it began to " hesitate", it did this for
about sveral minutes, during which the idiot shift light became to flicker
repeatedly. I thought it might have been bad fuel at the time. It went
away the next day I drove it for about 20 minutes and the same scenario
happened and then it just quit on me. The engine turns over but it will
not catch, it is getting fuel. I replaced the ignition coil because I had
not been getting any spark. I get a spark now from the ignition coil but
the car will not start. I was told it could be the modulator ??, I would
run out and replace it but Advanced Auto want $129.00 for one.

For a few bucks more you can get a rebuilt distributor including the new
ignition module. This is easier to install, and a fresh distributor will be more
accurate. Of course you're in for a fresh rotor and cap also. Check the rotor,
my last one had a loose rivet that allowed the arm to wiggle up and down which
ran like hell. I had another rotor that shorted to the shaft, killing all the
spark.
