Hi Owen.........
I hear ya........I moved down to St. Petersburg Florida about 7 years ago
and my kinda bronze-brown/black paint job went to heck. Yesterday I put in
a new battery and alternator, but all told, it keeps on ticking. I had a
little trouble getting the wires off the alternator until I finally figured
out that there was one latch on the end of the connector instead of two on
the sides.......after that only a couple of cuts and bruises and the rest
went smooth..........I'm 68 and so my back will pay for that for the next
couple of days............. I drive about 10 miles everyday to work and then
some on the weekends, not too much like before when I lived in
Virginia......that was a 75 mile commute. I need a couple of tires
too.....mine uses the wide ones cause I have the Magnesium wheels, and they
are kinda hard to find sometimes.........Some folks laugh about my Festiva,
cause I guess it's kinda out of style, but I love it.....A/c, automatic
transmission, fuel-injected........oh yeah, I need a recharge on the A/C, or
maybe go to one of those R234 conversion kits...ever try one of those?

Regards,
Chuck

Bought "Lucy" for my daughter. I wanted a basic car that she could
learn on. It has no a/c , she complains about that but it makes the
car simple. Only issue that bugs me is that the rings around the
locks on the doors have broken up and all the cylanders(sp) are at
different angles. I have a heck of a time getting into the car. I
will have to resolve the issue before the winter comes. We are in
Alberta and snow is just a few short weeks away.
Tried the R234 conversion kit on my Areostar and it only lasted for a
year but other people think its great.

I bought mine new in Alexandria Virginia, at least started making payments
then.......almost lost it twice as my work gave way on a couple of
occasions, but was lucky enough to re-finance it and finally did get it paid
off. It was the top of the line model, had everything, and cost a bundle
(back then).....the best radio, sound proofing, air conditioning, parcel
tray, tinted glass, console, fuel injection, automatic transmission,
electric side mirrors, and even $500 for the magnesium wheels, and it has
been very good to me......no really major repair bills. I'll keep driving
it till the cows come home. I think I'm gonna slowly start restoring it
tho, new paint, and fix everything mechanically.......heck, it's just as
good as the new ones on gas mileage, and it's kinda-sorta getting to be a
classic. My Lady just had her 93 Grand Marquis re-painted and new trim and
it looks like a million. Gotta git now, I watched 6 young guys put a new
roof on the house today and it got me all tired out, remembering the last
time I did a job like that (10 years ago)<g>.......it was 90 degrees here
today in St. Petersburg Florida........it will still be awhile before the
snow gets here.......

Chuck
